Mr. Stephens was born in Peoria in 1951 and was raised on Peoria’s near North Side. He graduated from Spalding Institute in 1969, Northern Illinois University in 1973 and The John Marshall Law School in 1977. During Mr. Stephens’s second and third years at the John Marshall Law School, he represented the school in a National Moot Court competition in New York. He also studied law at Oxford University in England during the summer of 1976. Mr. Stephens was admitted to the prestigious Gavel Society at The John Marshall Law School in recognition of his scholastic and civic achievements.
In January of 1980, Mr. Stephens, founded the law firm. Stephens Fiddes McGill & Associates P.C. has grown to a firm of four attorneys and ten support staff. By having four attorneys, each of the attorneys is able to concentrate their practice in only one or two areas of law, and yet the firm as a whole is able to offer our clients a very broad range of legal services.
Mr. Stephens concentrates his practice in personal injury cases. He represents people injured in automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, wrongful death actions, railroad accidents, nursing home neglect cases and many other types of personal injury claims. Mr. Stephens has obtained millions of dollars in awards and settlements over his 34 years of practice. He is a member of the Peoria County Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. He is licensed to practice in all Illinois State Courts, The U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and the United States Supreme Court. Stephens Fiddes McGill & Associates P.C. has been recognized five times as a winner of the People’s Choice Award as one of the top three law firms in all of Central Illinois.
Mr. Stephens worked as a construction laborer for eight years through college and law school as a member of Laborers Local 165 in Peoria. Mr. Stephens is an honorary member of UAW Local 974. Among the clients of the firm are numerous working men and women who are affiliated with virtually every local union in Central Illinois, including UAW Local 974, Laborers Local 165 and Teamsters Local 627 where his late father was a Business Agent and Officer.
